Burquitlam is proud to have been the primary care clinic
for Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) for over 20 years.
These life-changing dogs are trained to help people with physical disabilities, who are deaf/hard-of-hearing, as Intervention Canines with community care professionals or as Very Important Pets for children with disabilities.
Our team is integrally connected to the PADS family, not just from a Veterinary perspective – but in other ways as well.
The Burquitlam Vets Litter
In 2015 PADS honoured our ongoing relationship by naming a litter of four puppies after our four doctors. These handsome boys are lab/golden retriever crosses. Click their pictures below to follow their progress or to donate to help support their care and training.
Our Dogs
Buffett
Buffett is a fully certified PADS Intervention Dog who lives with Dr Vanstone and her family. Buffett was a stud dog for the organization, producing some of their finest working dogs. Once he was retired from breeding, he completed his training at PADS, and works actively as an PADS Intervention Dog at Miller Park School.
Crosby
Our handsome one eyed wonder is Buffett’s son! Unfortunately because of an eye condition he couldn’t enter training at PADS, but simply had to stay “in the family” and was adopted by Dr Connell. This wonderful boy loves to greet visitors.
Seven
Seven, a Yellow Labrador, is the baby of the bunch. She was also born to PADS breeding program, and went through several months of training before she decided that working was far more stressful than “hanging out” at our clinic. She used her brilliant mind to wiggle her way into technician Kaylie’s as her very own.
